Bacopa myriophylloides originates from the eastern and southern parts of Central Brazil and can be found, among others, in the Pantanal, where it inhabits boggy areas with shallow, very soft water in full sun. This Bacopa differs very much from most other Bacopa species. It seemingly has whorls of 10 or more awl-shaped leaves, however, truly it only has two leaves per node, which split up into 5 to 7 segments directly at the base.
This milfoil-shaped Bacopa is a demanding, light-loving plant when culivated submersed. Emersed cultivation, however, as practiced e.g. in aquatic plant nurseries, is completely easy. The emersed form of this small, fine-leaved bog plant develops beautiful white to pale blue flowers on long stalks.
