Echinodorus 'Dschungelstar' No. 3 is also sold under the name Echinodorus 'Python' in trade. Like the other Dschungelstar hybrids it was bred in the early 1990s by Julius Hoechstetter (Trostberg).
Its special characteristic are its low-growing leaf rosettes of only 10 to 20 cm in height. Its submersed leaves are narrowly elliptic, olive green with dark red oblong spots resembling those of Echinodorus maculatus 'Leopard'. New leaves are of a brownish red under lots of light. The leaf blades grow 10 to 15 cm long and 2.5 to 3.5 cm wide.
Emersed plants have light green leaves with weak red spots and a slightly undulate margin.
