"Mini Taiwan moss" was introduced into trade several years ago in Singapore. As the name suggests, it looks a lot like Taiwan moss (Taxiphyllum alternans) but grows a little smaller when kept under the same conditions. Prof. Benito C. Tan (Singapore) found out that it belongs to the genus Isopterygium, which is closely related to the genus Taxiphyllum. However, its exact species could not be identified yet.
It is not sure whether "mini Taiwan moss" can be obtained in Europe yet. It is probably easily confused with species of the genus Taxiphyllum. A densely ramified Vesicularia species (see Vesicularia sp. "mini Christmas moss") was erroneously passed on as "mini Taiwan moss".
