This relatively small and bushy growing stem plant is recently (around 2020) spread in the aquarium hobby as Limnophila aromatica "Mini". It is also labeled Limnophila aromatica in trade. However, it is not the long known L. aromatica "Mini" that is also called Limnophila sp. "Mini". It rather looks like a small version of Limnophila hippuridoides.
We call this plant provisionally Limnophila cf. hippuridoides "Mini". Its origin is unknown to us, but it probably originates from tropical Asia, as well as L. hippuridoides and L. aromatica. Above all, it is smaller and more branched than L. hippuridoides. A comparison with Limnophila aromaticoides would be interesting that probably vanished from culture (as of 2022).
The leaves are arranged in whorls that are about about 5 to 6 cm wide, with 4 to 7, mostly 5 leaves per whorl. Especially the shoot tips are light reddish, the leaf undersides are strongly red-violet. Low light causes rather light green leaves. The plant grows moderately fast.
For further reading, see "Culture" and "Design".
For Limnophila cf. hippuridoides "Mini", we recommend the same culture parameters as for L. hippuridoides. It grows best with much light, complete macro- and micronutrient supply and CO2 addition. Occasional trimming supports a dense growth habit. The propagation is simply done by cuttings.
