The water lily Nymphaea rudgeana is distributed in Central America as well as in the north and east of South-America. It is a plant with floating leaves and grows in diverse stagnant to flowing waters and even in brackish areas. In its natural habitats, the floating leaves grow to a diameter of up to 45 cm. Their margin is irregularly serrate. The submersed leaf blades in the aquarium only grow to 15 cm in size. They have a pink hue and an entire margin.
Even though this rather easy-to-care-for decorative water lily only grows to medium size it is hardly known as aquarium plant. It is thus very rare in the hobby and hard to come by in trade.
