Limnophila sp. Guinea 'Needle Leaf'

Hello everybody,
I have this interesting species since some months: it is an easy plant, grows faster and I think that it is an invasive plant ( it is interesting to see how it emits stolons in my tank).
it is similar to Limnophila aquatica,but its coloration is different : the apical zone is brownish / red color and the apexes of the leaves are silver color. Silver tips characteristic is also present in Cabomba caroliniana 'Silver Green' (fantastic )

the sellers change names when they sell plants so I think that it has other different name:
Limnophila sp. Guinea 'Silver Tip'
Limnophila sp. 'Needle Leaf'
..

For example, Massimo(RAP) received Limnophila sp. 'Silver Tip' from Tropica plants and he says it is the same plant..

There are some interesting Guineas around with the Broad Leaf and Needle Leaf.
I have the Needle Leaf since many years and it is one off the greatest fast pace plants around.
It can do around a half inch/day under good conditions and thats really stunning.

For whatever so reasons, all those Limnophila Guinea species are very unknown here in Germany. At last thats somehow strange, because it is has very nice and super fine leafs. The tip tops can also get fancy silver or red colours under High Light as well. :smile:

toll; hört sich so an, als wenn man die "Guinea Needle Leaf" in Wuchsgeschwindigkeit und Ansprüchen mit solchem Unkraut wie L. sessilis und L. indica vergleichen kann, und dass sie ebenso populär werden könnte.
Bildet die eventuell Ausläufer wie Limnophila indica?

hi Heiko,
konnte bei der Art in all den Jahren noch keine Ausläufer beobachten.
In der Wuchsgeschwindigkeit hält sie locker mit der Sessiliflora mit, sieht aber (wie man sieht ) wesentlich filigraner aus und das Blattwerk ist wirklich schön fein. Ein großer Bestand davon wirkt bestimmt optisch toll wg. des interessanten Blattwerks. (hab dafür aber leider nicht den Platz feifen: )
Die Art bevorzugt imo jedoch eine etwas höhere Eisendüngung, ansonsten keine besonderen Ansprüche + gewöhnt sich gut ein & wurzelt entsprechend schnell an, alles in allem, ein sehr robustes Pflänzchen. (das btw. auch nur selten von Algen befallen wird). Eigentlich unverständlich, daß man die Art nur selten bis gar nicht in Aquarien sieht.

Die Broad Leaf ist dahingegen das glatte Gegenteil, dickeres Blattwerk als Sessilflora und relativ problematisch im Handling (dauert lange bis sie sich einlebt, u.a. transportempfindlich, kann selbst nach längerer Standzeit im AQ bei zu argen Nährstoffengpässen binnen Stunden komplett absterben usw. :roll: )

Ich habe von Olaf-Peter ein paar Triebe dieser sehr schönen Art bekommen. :tnx:
Die Farbe und die Struktur dieser Pflanze sind wirklich toll.
