Hi,

damit man sich eine Vorstellung von der Größe machen kann:
die einzelnen Blätter der verschiedenen Bucephalandra sp. "Kapit"-Pflänzchen sind etwa 1,5 bis 3 cm lang und um 1 cm breit.

I wish to recall here that bucephalandra does not like water warmer than the 28st. I suspect that it is not true for all varieties. In Poland we have heat now (30 degrees ). I have Bucephalandras in two tanks. One is cooling and the temp is 25 degrees in the heat, usually is 22 degrees at normal day. Second tank isn't cooling and the temp reaches 30 degrees. I noticed that in non-cooling tank some leaves of Kayu Lapis1 has melt, are coming transparent. But other harder bucephalandra are fine.

yesterday, my city (Messina,sicily)was the hottest city of Italy --->43 degrees
in my tanks the temperature is 30 degrees and my buce are fine, but I think that it is only tolerance, but they aren't ideal values.

thanks, but please, more informations! Did You get infos about the origin? Who has created the name "Fake Catherineae"?
I find, much more similar to the "Sekadau 1" that has been imported by Aquasabi than to "Melawi".

they are absolutle stunning I love to see a red plant growing on wood or stones now.
We had a bit of a lack in this area.
The tiny growth is really nice!

Hallo,

nach nun fast einem Jahr kann ich bestätigen, dass es auf keinen Fall eine normale B. motleyana ist. Ich habe beide Spezies im Becken und diese kleine Art wächst kaum bis gar nicht, wobei Bucephalandra motleyana fast wuchert (für ihre Verhältnisse), wirklich. Die neuen Blätter der kleinen Buc sind alle maximal 5mm groß. Obwohl sie bereitwillig wurzelt hat sie vllt. 6 neue Blättchen bisher geschoben...
Ich habe sie in 3 verschiedenen Becken gehabt, wobei alle 3 weiches Wasser mit niedrigem pH Wert hatten. Ein Becken fahre ich ganz ohne Makros, eins mit NPK und eins nur mit dem Spezial N und Spezial K nach Wasserwechsel (was die Makros angeht) Ansonsten "normale" AR-Mikro Spezial Düngung und jeweils immer viiiiel Co2 (pH dabei überall so bei 6-6,3).
Starke Strömung scheint die Pflanze allerdings zu lieben, und ich glaube das bilde ich mir nicht nur ein!?!? Sie wächst gerade direkt hinter dem Auslass voll im Sturm und wächst dort besser als zuvor. Dann habe ich auch die Bucephalandra motleyana dahin gepackt und die zeigt im selben Becken das gleiche Verhalten und schiebt dazu noch Blüten wie verrückt, ganz ohne Po4...
Naja ich werde nicht schlau draus...
